How do I get this mens' hairstyle and what is it called?

I don't know what's its called but I think it uses hair gel. Near the forehead, the hair is gelled up but the rest of the hair is not gelled (I think). Please send any pictures of this style if you know of it. Thank you.How do I get this mens' hairstyle and what is it called?
I think you are describing an Ivy League. It goes by several other names. Standard Crew Cut, Long Crew Cut, Princeton Cut, Harvard Clip, French Crop, Short Pomp etc


Gel can be used but the preferable way to groom a Crew Cut is with Control wax. AKA Butch wax. Wax does not set up a stiff hold like a gel so the hair can be combed, brushed and tousled as much as one wishes and then brushed into place. Grooming a Crew Cut takes a few seconds:


1) Towel dry hair.


2)Barely dip fingertips in jar of wax.


3) Transfer wax to palms.


4) Smooth palms over hair.


5) Brush hair up off forehead to form short pomp front.
